How To Correct Imam During Prayer

Shaykh Muhammad Bā Jammāl (may Allāh preserve him) said it is legislated for the one praying in congregation to mention the correct verse(s) when the Imām makes an error in his recitation and bring any other errors to his attention by saying 'subhanAllāh' based on the following two hādīthayn:

when the Imām makes an error in his recitation and bring any other errors to his attention by saying 'subhanAllāh' based on the following two hādīthayn:

[The Prophet ﷺ forgot a verse during the Fajr prayer so when he finished the prayer he said (ﷺ): "Is Ubay Ibn K'ab in the congregation?"] meaning why did you not correct me Oh Ubay?.

This hadith was recorded in Ahmad (15365) and graded 'Sahih' by The Sheikh.

The Prophet ﷺ also said:

[Whoever doubts something in his (i.e. the Imām's) prayer, then let him say subhanAllāh, because when he says subhanAllāh he will turn towards him and clapping (when the Imām makes a mistake) is only for women.] Sahih Al-Bukhāri  and Muslim.

All praise is due to Allah we ask Him to bless the Prophet Sallah Llah Alei Wasalam and the companions and let's die in the path of Qur'an and Sunnah.
